Cultivating Beauty in the Everyday

Homemakers are ALL Leaders

“Go out more, keep cheerful as well as busy, for you are the sunshine maker of the family, and if you get dismal there is no fair weather.”

~ Lousia May Alcott, Little Women

Do you see yourself as a leader?

I see myself as a leader.

My role as mother, wife, and homemaker requires that I lead my family in my own unique way.

I am called to lead my children, to guide them through the golden years and raise up capable adults. God fearing, hardworking, kind, responsible adults. It is a huge task, as I often fall short of what I want my children to become.

As a leader of my children, I lead first by example. If I want them to be kind, I must show them kindness. I can not be a hypocrite and ask them to be something that I can’t do myself.

As a homemaker, I lead my family in what choices I make every day. I lead in nutrition. I lead my family in hygiene. I lead in behavior. I lead in my attitude. My role is to set the standard and to hold the people in my home to a standard of living that aligns with our family values.

Leading is not always natural. Sometimes, we are put into situations where we have no choice except to lead.

I’m more of a natural leader than some people simply because I am the oldest of 6 kids. I had no choice but to develop leadership skills as a kid and teen. I think that if I had not been the oldest, I would not have the leadership abilities I do now.

Being a leader is a skill. It requires practice and learning how to do it. Every day, I have opportunities to practice in my home.
